The lecture will be devoted to the input of Jewish musicians in Polish music, from the composers and virtuosos of the 19th century to the creators of film and theatre music of the 20th century and the contemporary artists of the present.
Among the presented persons, the audience will get to know more about, for example, Henryk Wars, Bronisław Huberman, Mieczysław Weinberg, or Jerzy Petersburski. The lecture will include information on their works and lives in a broader historical, societal, and cultural context, including the difficult moments of the 20th century, which cannot be forgotten.
Olga Adamowska – head of the JCC Krakow Education Department and the Mifgash Foundation, anthropologist of culture and literature, co-author of such books as the first “Women’s Haggadah” published in Poland, and the “Sara Imeinu”, a comic book on Sara Schenirer. In her work, she focuses on contemporary Jewish life in Poland, Jewish multiculturalism, March ‘68, and the Shoah in popular culture.
