We would like to invite you to a meeting with Andrzej Krawczyk, author of the book “Jeszcze słychać tę muzykę. Biłgoraj – sztetl utracony” (“One Can Still Hear This Music. Biłgoraj – The Lost Shtetl”).

Biłgoraj, thanks to the works of Isaac Bashevis Singer, became a world symbol of a shtetl. However, in his book Andrzej Krawczyk goes a step further using the literary myths in order to describe what was the real, daily experience of Jewish citizens of this town. It is a fascinating read which allows us to understand the fate of the community which has shaped the identity of the region for centuries.

Andrzej Krawczyk – historian and diplomat, a longtime ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is an expert in the 20th century history of Central Europe, especially the history of the Second World War.

In Polish. Free admission.
