We would like to invite you to a meeting on the book “Oto widać i oto słychać. Świadkowie Zagłady w okupowanej Polsce” (“It Is Seen and Heard. Witnesses of the Shoah in Occupied Poland”), the latest publication of the Polish Center for Holocaust Research (IFiS PAN). The book is a result of a few years of grant research, which included academics from different generations and various branches of humanities using varied methodology. Together they took a closer look at the category of a Holocaust witness, seeking the answers to questions on the concept fluidity, the attitudes of witnesses, their consciousness of the totality of the Shoah, the determinants of their actions, and much more. This book includes theoretical texts, local studies, deepened analyses of sources, as well as characteristics of different groups of witnesses.
