The Jewish American community is the largest Jewish community in the world, outside of Israel: amounting to approximately 7 million people. Although they only constitute 2 percent of the whole US population, Jewish input in American economy, politics, and culture is definitely wider than what these numbers reflect. A large majority of this diaspora are children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of immigrants from Poland.

Among those interviewed by the author are rabbis, leaders, and activists of Jewish organizations, journalists, university scholars who are experts in Jewish Studies, and so-called common people. These conversations depict their fates, their mindset, reasons behind their choices and decisions, as well as their complexities and fears. From this perspective readers can better understand why they are who they are. Let’s get to know American Jews better.
