Remembering Ryszard Ores – meeting with Prof. Aleksander B. Skotnicki

On-site event

Led by: Dr. Edyta Gawron

Throughout his life, Ryszard Ores had a special attitude towards Krakow as the city where he was born, where he spent his childhood, the city that he loved and considered his own, even when he emigrated to the USA. Krakow was at the same time a place where extremely dramatic events in his life took place: the ghetto, the loss of loved ones, the camp in Płaszów… Despite these dramatic events, Ryszard Ores constantly returned to Krakow. He kept in touch with Cracovians whom he knew from before the war, and also made new friendships – including with prof. Aleksander B. Skotnicki. During the meeting, prof. Skotnicki will share his memories of Ryszard Ores and of Ryszard’s returns to his hometown.

Professor Aleksander B. Skotnicki is professor of medical sciences, a hematologist and transplantologist, long-term head of the Clinic and Department of Hematology at the Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, asocial activist involved in promoting the history and heritage of Krakow Jews, and founder of the Foundation “Stradomskie Centrum Dialogu”.
