Rules for Visiting the Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków

I. General Provisions

  1. The Museum is open daily from 11:00 to 18:00. Opening hours may change occasionally and will be announced on the Museum’s website and on notices at the Museum. Detailed information about the Museum’s days and hours of operation as well as any changes are available on the Museum’s website (www.galiciajewishmuseum.org) or at the Museum’s ticket counter.
  2. The Museum determines the maximum number of people allowed in individual areas accessible to visitors: in Building A (with a separate Permanent Exhibition, temporary exhibitions, Education Room) and Building B (with a separate Hall and Conference Room).
  3. Purchasing a ticket constitutes acceptance of the rules set forth in these Rules and Regulations. The Museum may decide to temporarily suspend the possibility of group visits to the Museum and the use of additional services, including guided tours.
  4. Last admission to the exhibitions at the Museum is half an hour before closing.
  5. A valid ticket is required for entry into the permanent and temporary exhibitions.

II. Temporary Sanitary Recommendations

  1. The Museum Reception shall direct the movement of visitors, who are required to strictly follow these instructions. This applies in particular to the order and number of entrances to the Museum space, the direction of visiting, and use of entrances and exits.
  2. All persons entering the Museum are required to disinfect their hands (or gloves) using the disinfectant available in dispensers at the Museum’s entryway.
  3. Visitors may be subject to temperature testing. In case of elevated temperature, the receptionist may refuse to sell the individual a ticket and ask them to leave the Museum.
  4. Only one person is allowed at the ticket counter while purchasing tickets.
  5. While on the grounds and inside the Museum, it is required to cover your mouth and nose (with a mask, scarf, or visor). Wearing protective gloves is also recommended.
  6. Persons waiting to enter the Museum and persons visiting the Museum space are required to keep a minimum distance of at least 2 meters from others.
  7. There is a limit on the maximum number of Visitors in the Museum at the same time, assuming 15 m² of space per person.
  8. Individual visits are recommended; group visits are recommended to be limited to max. 5 people, keeping the required distance of 2 meters.
  9. Visitors are required to follow the one-way visiting route as marked.
  10. The Museum Café serves drinks and cold snacks in accordance with the current sanitation requirements.
  11. Use of the 48x37x48 cm self-service lockers, cloakroom, and children’s play area has been temporarily suspended.

III. Rules for Visiting

  1. Minors are the responsibility of their parents or guardians.
  2. While on the Museum’s premises, including during tours, visitors shall follow all instructions and guidelines issued by the receptionist, Museum staff, exhibition guards, and Museum employees.
  3. Persons behaving in a way that endangers the safety of collections or others, disturbs other visitors, or violates generally accepted norms of behavior in public places may be asked to leave the Museum.
  4. The Museum has a video surveillance system recording visitors. Covering one’s face while on the Museum’s premises, except as required in Section II(5), is prohibited.
  5. For security reasons, visitors may be subject to inspection using electronic devices to detect hazardous materials and objects. Visitors may be asked to show the contents of their bags.
  6. Visitors should check their coats, suitcases, backpacks, and umbrellas in the Museum’s cloakroom. The cloakroom may be temporarily closed due to sanitary requirements.
  7. The following bans are in force throughout the Museum’s premises and exhibitions:
    1. Absolute prohibition on touching exhibits or exhibition architecture elements, except those marked with appropriate signage.
    2. Bringing in and consuming outside food and drinks, smoking tobacco or e-cigarettes.
    3. Bringing objects or substances that may endanger life, health, or safety.
    4. Entering under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
    5. Using musical instruments, sound devices, or recording equipment.
    6. Disruptive or loud behavior, running, or sliding on the floor.
  8. The consent of the Museum Director is required for:
    1. Conducting business activities on the Museum’s premises, including solicitation.
    2. Organizing gatherings, advertising campaigns, and photo sessions on the Museum’s premises.
    3. Displaying banners, symbols, or emblems on the Museum’s premises.
    4. Making film recordings or photographs for purposes other than personal use.

IV. Other Provisions

  1. Damage to or destruction of an exhibit or architectural element requires a written report.
  2. The Museum uses written and graphic signs to provide information about the presence of sensitive content in certain exhibitions. This information is posted near the Museum’s ticket desk and on the exhibit.
