The Polish Blues Day is an annual day established by the Polish Blues Association. Since 2005, it has been celebrated on September 16th, which is B. B. King’s birthday. At the Galicia Jewish Museum, we will celebrate it this year one day earlier.

Magda Piskorczyk is a vocalist and multiinstrumentalist who has won numerous awards. She was nominated to the prestigious Polish Fryderyk Award three times. She was a two-time semifinalist of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. She won the title of the best blues vocalist in Poland nine times!

Piskorczyk sings with a mature, low voice and plays numerous guitars: acoustic, electric, and bass as well as percussion instruments. She mainly performs music rooted in African American and African traditions. In addition to working as an arranger and composer,she also tours with her band regularly. She was a guest of multiple international festivals in Germany, Great Britain, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, France, USA, and Taiwan.

Piskorczyk published seven albums, on which you can also hear artists such as the world renowned Polish artist, Michał Urbaniak, Billy Gibbons, a harmonica virtuoso from Memphis, or Slidin’ Slim from Sweden. She has also performed with multimple acknowledged Polish and international artists such as: Organek, Wojciech Karolak, Leszek Winder, Jerzy Styczyński, Leszek Cichoński, Michał Urbaniak, Bob Margolin, Bob Brozman, and the Engerling band.

At the end of 2023, a premiere of her new surprise album was held. The album entitled “Jubilee Night at Jesień z Bluesem” includes 11 live recorded tracks and 6 guest appearances of musicians who also performed at this festival two years earlier, when Magda celebrated her 20th anniversary on stage. This is also where she debuted in 2001 with her previous band and won the Grand Prix – a year later she started her solo career in Białystok.
