The book includes stories more or less connected with the town of Płock; however, they are also about the entire world: from the story of the Themerson family, through a report on Chawa Złoczewer (also known as Eve Adams), whose fate crossed with the fate of Małgorzata Gałkowska, a Płock-born actress of the National Stary Theatre in Krakow, to the tragic story of Chaim Shapiro. The book also includes a story of a heroic hairdresser from Treblinka, and also a story about people seeking mezuzah traces in Warsaw… This book focuses not only on people but also on places.
