“Jews in Galicia. Histories, Topographies, and Texts”. IV International Conference

From 1772 to 1918, Galicia played a significant role in the history of the Jewish Diaspora, emerging as a vibrant and diverse center of Jewish life within a multicultural environment. The fourth International Conference “Jews in Galicia” will explore three key dimensions of contemporary Galician Jewry: historical, topographical, and textual. The program will include topics such as: the stories of Galician Jews and their political and economic roles; the topographies and institutions of Jewish religious and social life; legal aspects of Jewish family life; new directions of research on early Hasidism; literary representations of Jewish Galicia; Galician Jewish culture – texts and contributors (writers, artists, and intellectuals).
