“Jewish Resistance in Kraków During the Holocaust” – Conference at the Galicia Jewish Museum

The Galicia Jewish Museum in cooperation with Yad Vashem – The World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem invites for a conference devoted to the history of the Jewish resistance in Kraków during the occupation. The program is organized to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the attack on “Cyganeria” café – an organized action of the Jewish resistance movement from December 1942, in which armed attacks on German soldiers were carried out throughout Krakow, and Polish national flags were hung in selected places.

10:10-10:55 – Katarzyna Zimmerer – Krakow Ghetto. Historical Outline
11:00-11:45 – Sheryl Ochayon – Fierce Females: Women in the Krakow Resistance
12:00-12:45 – Dr. Edyta Gawron – Remembrance of the Ghetto, Remembrance of the Holocaust. Commemoration of the Krakow Ghetto in Krakow’s Public Space
12:50-13:35 – Dr. Yael Richler Friedman, Dr. Katarzyna Suszkiewicz – Challenges in teaching the Holocaust in Israel and Poland
14:30-16:30 – Doron Shach – Guided Tour: In the Footsteps of “Three Lines in History” (Will not be broadcasted online. Registration required: zapisy@galiciajewishmuseum.org)
17.00-17.30 – Ceremony commemorating attack on “Cyganeria” Café. Ceremony will take place at 38 Szpitalna Street

The event will be in English with translation into Polish.
