Houses of Eternity of Jews from Kazimierz and Podgórze – Guided theme tour with Bartosz Wencel

The history of the citizens of Krakow is inscribed in archives, old magazines and newspapers, photographs, and memoirs. However, we often forget how much information about former citizens of Krakow, or those who lived here for a while, can be deciphered from within cemeteries. These are exactly the places where one can spot the changes that took place in Krakow’s different communities over a long period of time. This also includes Jewish cemeteries and Krakow has a few of them.

We would like to invite you on a guided tour through the Jewish cemetery on Miodowa Street. The tour will be devoted to this cemetery, as well as other cemeteries, where Jewish citizens of Krakow are buried. You will get to know the history of these places, and traditions and customs related to death. We will also explain why such places, even though they might seem invisible or inconspicuous, should be treated just like any other cemeteries.
