One of the spaces most associated with Jewish culture are cemeteries, because they are often the only remaining trace of a town’s Jewish citizens. In Krakow, for sure, this looks slightly different, but for many, Jewish cemeteries are a mysterious place, with “exotic” inscriptions on tombstones.
We would like to invite you to a guided tour through the Miodowa Cemetery. The tour guide will tell participants more about the most important parts of Jewish tradition and Jewish folklore related to death and burial places, the guide will also explain how the tombstones’ design changed over the last two centuries.
Of course, we will also focus on the fates of Krakow citizens who are now buried at the Jewish cemetery at Miodowa Street, because without them, one cannot really understand the history of our city.
In Polish. Free admission.
Space is limited, registration required: zapisy@galiciajewishmuseum.org
