At the Galicia Jewish Museum, we are extremely proud that our exhibitions are presented not only in Poland but also abroad.
Last week, however, we had a unique situation – within just a few days, two of our exhibitions were opened in two different, extremely important, museums in the United States.
The exhibition “Sweet Home Sweet: A Story of Survival, Memory and Returns” opened at the Holocaust Museum Los Angeles, the oldest Holocaust museum in the United States. A few days earlier, the exhibition “The Girl in the Diary. Searching for Rywka from the Łódź Ghetto” opened at the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center. Interestingly, for the first time in the history of this institution, a temporary exhibition was also fully captioned in Polish, which is a nod to the Polish community living in the Chicago region. The exhibition openings were attended by Jakub Nowakowski, Director of the Galicia Jewish Museum, and Tomasz Strug, Chief Curator and Deputy Director of the Museum.
