Film screening: “The Wedding 2”
dir. Wojciech Smarzowski, 2021
This is not the village of Bronowice, known from the famous Polish play “Wesele”, but this wedding also includes ghosts. The ghosts of those it is hard to forget, even if one wants. They have always been here, but now, in the crush of the wedding hall, with upbeat music, and banquet tables, their presence becomes even stronger, more visible, and disturbs the rhythm of a seemingly happy wedding party. The common history cannot be ignored anymore, especially since what happened here eighty years ago, which remains unmourned and unprocessed, still influences the decisions, behaviors, emotions, and feelings of those who remain.
The screening will be preceded by an introduction by Dr. Joanna Preizner.
