“Koniec świata na południe od Tel Awiwu” (“The End of the World South from Tel Aviv”) is a non-fiction reconstruction of October 7th, 2023 – the day, when the border between war and reality in Israel ceased to exist. The story leads us through Sderot, the kibbutzim, and border roads, while giving the voice to ordinary people: drivers, mothers, police officers, soldiers, and farmers. Instead of a political perspective we get to know an individual experience of fear, chaos, and helplessness as well as the decisions which are made in a split second. This is a story of a state, which failed in a crucial moment, as well as its citizens which are left on their own. The brutality of the Hamas attack is depicted without sensationalism, away from simplifications and propaganda cliches, at the same time depicting the crack in the security myth, on which Israeli identity was based for many years.
