On the other side of Vistula River, when looking from Kazimierz, is where the area of Podgórze begins. Today it is a district of Krakow, but it was once a separate town. Podgórze was incorporated into the city in 1915, however, it preserved its uniqueness, at least in the collective imagination of many citizens of Krakow – including the Jewish ones. Although, in Jewish history the area of Podgórze is mainly associated with the wartime period, this does not mean that Jewish life has not been present in the district both before and after the Second World War as well. We would like to invite you to a walk through the district of Kazimierz and in the footsteps of its Jewish inhabitants.
