We invite you to a discussion about the critical edition of “The Diary” by Irena Glück. Published by the POLIN Museum, this book is a moving account of the fates of the author and her loved ones, which intertwine with the wartime history of the Krakow Ghetto.
Irena Glück, born July 25th, 1924, in Krakow, kept her diary systematically from May 7th, 1940, to August 19th, 1942. It wasn’t the only place where Irena recorded her thoughts. During her travels, she left her diary at home, instead taking notes on whatever was at hand—a notebook or a calendar. Upon her return, she copied the texts into the diary. Irena and her mother were probably murdered in 1942 in the Bełżec extermination camp.
