World Vyshyvanka Day (The World Day of Embroidery) is an international holiday which is celebrated each year on the third Thursday of May. It is aimed at preserving the Ukrainian tradition of wearing embroidered shirts.
This day promotes Ukrainian culture and encourages wearing embroidered clothing as a symbol of identity.
On the World Vyshyvanka Day we would like to invite you to a workshop, during which various Ukrainian embroidery techniques will be presented with a special focus on one of the most popular methods of traditional Ukrainian fancywork: counted embroidery.
The participants will be able to create their own jewellery, pendant, or a bookmark with Ukrainian protective symbols that are traditionally sewed onto shirts.
The workshop will be led by an embroidery expert, Alona Khalina – owner of a Ukrainian embroidery studio in Krakow “Haftowane Ściegi”.

Зустріч присвячена Всесвітньому дню вишиванки. Під час заходу буде представлено різноманіття технік традиційної української вишивки та детально розглянуто одну з найпоширеніших — рахункову гладь.
Учасники зможуть власноруч створити прикрасу, брелок або закладку з українськими обереговими символами, які традиційно вишивали на сорочках.
Майстер-клас проводить вишивальниця Альона Халіна — власниця студії української вишивки у Кракові «Вишиті стібочки».
