The program of this concert is based on two pillars. First, there are the instrumental compositions written for the Portuguese guitar by the masters of this instrument: Carlos Paredes, Jose Nunes and Casimiro Ramos. This is followed by the popular songs of the fado genre, performed by the distinguished singers of Portuguese music: Mariza, Ana Moura, and Amalia Rodrigues. The concept behind most of the arrangements are the unique sounds of Portuguese fado bands. However, the use of a keyboard synthesizer allows the musicians to transcend traditions to reach a more contemporary, distinctive sound – perfectly fitting with the current climate of Portuguese music.
