The Gdańsk Necropolitan Orchestra is a project created by two people who create music which escapes simple genre classifications. It can be perceived as part of the Polish yass genre, experimental music, free jazz, or new music. A rarely met duo consisting of a trumpeter and a bass player presents a full range of possibilities based on the dialog between these two instruments. The improvisations bring strong emotions, which come from reflecting upon difficult, but important subjects: the feeling of being lost in the contemporary world, the impossibility of finding oneself in mass culture, everyday life in a reality devoid of at least a shadow of real art. The emotions transferred by the band are fueled by fear, desperation, and an almost fatalist lack of hope for any change.
