Aleksandra Honcel-Banek: violin
Marek Szlezer: piano
Krakow’s Kazimierz is a remarkable place with a magical aura, part of which is its Jewish heritage. The Galicia Jewish Museum is located in the heart of the district and preserves the memory of Jewish history and culture. This is where Sinfonietta Cracovia would like to invite you to a “Galician Espresso,” a concert and an inspiring trip to the past where we will listen to music from one hundred years ago. Aleksandra Honcel-Banek, a violinist of Sinfonietta Cracovia, and Marek Szlezer, a pianist, will perform an impressionist sonata by Maurice Ravel, and the music by Erich Wilhelm Korngold, a composer of Hollywood’s Golden Era, a descendant of a Galician family.
The concert will be accompanied by a conversation on the Galicia Jewish Museum permanent exhibition, “Traces of Memory” and a guided tour through the exhibition “May ‘81” – both of which are part of the price of the entry ticket for “Galician Espresso”.
The espresso concerts are a series of concerts by Sinfonietta Cracovia. The idea is to perform short concerts, as brief as an espresso shot, in various museums of Krakow. The concert is accompanied by a presentation of a work of art to which the performance is related.
