Fado de Amor blends a distinctive vocal style with guitar, conveying a deep fascination and passion for fado. Fado is a traditional indigenous music from Portugal. The name comes from the Latin word “fatum” which means “fate.” It is a musical genre characterized by its melodies that are full of emotions and lyrics that speak of fate, death, love, ocean, and nostalgia. In 2011 fado was included on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is a genre that emphasizes the singer’s vocal skills, enhancing the variety of the repertoire and leaving the audience amazed.
To immerse oneself in this world, we invite you to the “Fado de Amor” concert performed by Kinga Rataj, who will be accompanied by a talented guitarist, Janek Pentz. The repertoire will include traditional fado songs sung by the queen of this genre but also contemporary pieces. The songs are arranged for fingerstyle guitar, and they are breaking the schemes to bring new life into traditional music. This concert keeps respect for the roots of fado, yet it has a fresh and contemporary perspective. All of this is simply because of the love for fado.
The concert will be performed by:
Kinga Rataj – vocals
Janek Pentz – fingerstyle guitar
