“The Space of an Image” is the only series of screenings of Jewish-themed films in Małopolska. The pilot edition took place in 2015 at the Galicia Jewish Museum in Kraków and was met with great interest from viewers. Since then, every year at the end of June and the beginning of July, contemporary, ambitious and non-commercial films dealing with Jewish heritage, complicated Polish-Jewish relations, the search for one’s own identity or the life of the Jewish community around the world are presented in the Kraków district of Kazimierz.
The films scheduled for 2023 have mostly been screened and awarded at major film festivals in Europe and had premiere in Poland in November 2022 at the 20th Warsaw Jewish Film Festival, organized by the Kamera Dawida Foundation – the project’s partner.
The series of screenings will make it possible to show Jewish culture and heritage from different perspectives and also to present contemporary Israeli cinema.
