Meeting with Lidia Maksymowicz: Witness to history, a former prisoner of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp

Lidia Maksymowicz was born in 1940 near Lviv. At only three years old, she was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau and forced into the children's barracks in 1943, after being tragically  separated from her mother. She survived the camp and the pseudo-medical experiments conducted by doctor Joseph Mengele. 75 years ago, after the camp's liberation, she was adopted by a Polish family from Oświęcim. It was not until 17 years later that the German Red Cross informed her that they had found her biological mother.

During the meeting Ms. Lidia Maksymowicz will speak not only about her wartime experience, but also the consequences of these events on her life following the liberation.
