Kraków-Yavne Polish-Israeli Youth Exchange; The project was made possible thanks to the financial support from the Polish Ministry of National Education in the framework of “International Youth Exchange” programme.
Travelling and learning about different cultures is a wonderful experience, particularly when we can feel like locals in a given country and not like tourists – at least for a few days. The students from High School No 5 in Kraków had such an opportunity – they participated in the Polish-Israeli youth exchange.
Polish students spent one week In Israel, In september 2015, getting to know its history, culture and monuments, and – above all – getting to know their new Israeli friends. During their stay in Yavne, students from Kraków were fully immersed in the everyday life of their Israeli mates, becoming members of families that hosted them.
Rich and interesting programme prepared by the Israeli partners included among others visiting Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Yafo, Yad Vashem, Masadah and a bath in Dead Sea. But what is much more important it enabled them to get to know their Israeli hosts and participate in their family and school lives. The diversity of activities made this visit unforgettable for the students from Kraków.
In order to express gratitude for this warm welcome and amazing experience, Polish students prepared an equally interesting and diverse programme for their Israeli pairs arriving to Kraków on 7 December 2015. Discovering Krakow is the main point of this visit, but the guests have opportunity to visit wonderful places outside Krakow: searching for Jewish heritage In the Barrow climatic street of old Tarnów, getting down to the Salt Mines in Wieliczka and finding refuge from the noise of big city in Ojców National Park. The programme of the visit of Israeli students also includes visiting Warsaw – walking through the Old Town and the POLIN Museum.
