Catherine Bainbridge puts it this way: Native Americans have had a tremendous impact on modern music, and she works to prove her case. The talking heads of Martin Scorsese, Iggy Pop, Tony Bennett, and Slash, parade across the screen. From the safety of the academic essay we (thankfully) quickly move to cotton plantations and Native American reservations, to Greenwich Village in the 1970s, to the jazzy Cafe Society, and finally to Woodstock.
