In 1945, a Soviet doctor found a school notebook in the liberated Auschwitz-Birkenau Camp. It was a diary written by the teenager Rywka Lipszyc in the Łódź Ghetto between October 1943 and April 1944. More than 60 years after its initial discovery, the diary made its way to the United States where it was translated from Polish into English, supplemented with commentaries and published in book form. The diary was just recently published in its original language by Austeria Publishing House. Ewa Wiatr edited the composition and provided the preface. Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN is a partner of this edition.
The meeting will be participated by: Ewa Wiatr and Dr. Monika Polit, and moderated by Dr. Monika Stępień.
In Polish, free admission.
This is an accompanying event to the exhibition “The Girl in the Diary. Searching for Rywka from the Łódź Ghetto” which is currently on display at the Galicia Jewish Museum.
