Kalman Segal – Archivist of Two Worlds

We would like to invite you to a very special birthday gathering. Kalman Segal - a writer, poet, and journalist – was born in Sanok in 1917. Caught between a Jewish world and a Polish one, Segal’s life and work will be discussed by: Magdalena Ruta (Jagiellonian University, Krakow), Tomasz Chomiszczak (Pedagogical University, Krakow), Arkadiusz Komski (expert on the history of Sanok), and Joanna Sarnecka (The “Suitcase” Foundation for Culture). The panelists will also discuss the image of a multi-cultural town described by Segal with great tenderness. Excerpts of the writer's literary works will guide our discussion and understanding.

Organized by: The Institute of Jewish Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, The “Suitcase” Foundation for Culture
