We would like to invite you to a promotion of the book, A Man of Success in the Country of Success: The Biography of Marcel Goldmann, a Krakowian in Tel Aviv, by Łukasz Tomasz Sroka (with foreword by Aleksander B. Skotnicki, and afterword by Leopold “Poldek” Wasserman). The main protagonist of the book is Marcel Goldman, a citizen of Kraków who survived the Shoah in exceptional circumstances. After the Second World War, he settled in Israel, where he made a great career in banking. His life and his professional success serve as the basis of the story of Israel, from the declaration of independence to contemporary times.
The reader follows the impressive career of a man who, when he came ashore in Haifa, in 1949, received only a few oranges and a place in a tent. He shortly became the youngest banker in Israel to oversee a bank agency completely autonomously. In the following years, he held important offices in the private banking sector. His great talents and determination to build a happy life for his family and to make his companies succeed is the story of Israel, itself. Only a few decades removed from its foundation, Israel became one of the world’s most admired leaders in the areas of economy, science, technology, and culture, among other fields. This is a story of a man of success and the country of success–a story about wisdom, the changes of human fate, pain, the bitter taste of victory, the strength of one’s character, and kindness which often returns to us in the most unexpected circumstances.
Special guests include: Mr. Marcel Goldman and Prof. Aleksander B. Skotnicki, the author of
the foreword of the book.
